Im Half a Hoarder at Heart

(September)

There is something about antiques and heirlooms that tug at my heart strings.  Perhaps its the history and sentiment of it and maybe even a little bit that I love the way they look- BUT when its an antique that once belonged to someone I love I suddenly become extremely attached to it.

In September, while in Utah, I decided to have Myra try on some old dresses that belonged to my mom when she was little... She ran around the backyard in them sniffing flowers and giggling and I could picture my mom as a young child with her bright blonde hair, infectious smile and curiosity toddling around in those outfits as well.

I hope that I pass my crazy sentimental heart along to at least one of my children... Not enough to be a hoarder, but just enough that they will keep, cherish, and pass to their children the things that made my heart sing in life.

  1. I absolutely love classic dresses! I found my little girl a bunch at a yard sale this last summer and I had so much fun putting her in them! They are just so timeless and beautiful. Myra looks so pretty. :)

  2. Ohhh my goodness, that sentimental gene must be a White thing because I have it too! Now I just need to get a sense for beauty and design like you have. :) Myra is so precious in those dresses! And I always love your parents' backyard. Just the other day I was trying to describe it to Sam and concluded that we need to have a family gathering there sometime so he can see it! My boys got an antique teeter totter for Christmas just like the one I remember playing on at your house--it was the funnest thing ever for me and they LOVE theirs now, too! Sharing childhood memories with your own kids is one of the greatest things. Love you!

  3. Ahhh! Hailey, I am so happy to see these pictures :) Thanks for being just sentimental enough to be you! I think you have the perfect amount. It makes you tender, creative, thoughtful, and all those good things. I don't thinkt you will be a hoarder. I just got done telling daddy that I never want any of you kids to feel that you need to keep any of my things once I am gone just because of guilty sentiment. Only keep what you truly love because it brings joy to your life. Once it adds weight and clutter, take a picture for the memory, then donate it or throw it out and live for today!

I love you and your family so much! Three more days!!!
